Late Wednesday night, the Toronto Raptors were able to secure one of the biggest free agents on the market, agreeing to a four-year contract to re-sign point guard Kyle Lowry. Lowry posted a picture on Instagram confirming the news:
This ain't Amir jersey y'all!! Lol….. it's for the 2014-15 season cause Toronto will be my home city http://t.co/kOFGonoKES
— Kyle Lowry (@Klow7) July 3, 2014
Lowry was arguably the top point guard on the market after averaging 17.9 points, 7.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game with Toronto last season. The scrappy guard was a target of the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers, but instead chose to remain with the Raptors.
Now that Lowry is signed, expect the point guard market to shift to Darren Collison, a handful of other veteran PGs and restricted free agents young stars Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas.
