Robinson was 94-105 in six seasons with the Beavers. He will receive a reported buyout of $4 million from the university.
“I want to thank Coach Robinson and his family for their contributions to Oregon State University,” said athletic director Bob De Carolis in a statement released by the school. “This was a difficult decision, but after further evaluation, I believe it is in the best interests of our student-athletes, our basketball program and our University.”
While Oregon State did post a .500 record of 16-16 this past season, they were also losing their top five scorers and are destined to a rough 2014-2015. It may have been cool to have Presidential ties on the baseline, but winning trumps all in college sports.
