The Portland Trail Blazers took a commanding 2-0 lead Wednesday night in their opening round series against the Houston Rockets behind another monster game from LaMarcus Aldridge, but not without Rockets center Dwight Howard doing his best to prevent the loss.
Here are highlight of Aldridge’s 43-point night and Howard’s 32-point effort in one of the best battle of post players that you’ll see in today’s NBA:
Howard put forth a valiant effort and scored 19 points in the first quarter before foul trouble slowed him down in the second half. When Aldridge is hitting his mid-range jumper like he was last night — and usually he does — he becomes almost impossible to stop. Over the first two games of the series Aldridge has hung a total of 89 points on the Rockets for an average of 44.5 points and 13 rebounds on 59% shooting from the field.
Houston might have to triple-team him next game to slow him down or this will be a quick, short series.
