2013 top NBA draft pick and New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis has progressed quite nicely in his first two NBA seasons.
Now nearing the end of his second pro season, Davis is already one of the best young centers in the NBA, and put his skills on display in a dominant 40-point, 21-rebound effort in a win over the Celtics on Sunday. Watch:
Davis was named to his first — of many — All Star games this seasons and has turned it on of late, averaging 24.1 points and 11.2 rebounds in 14 games since the AS Break. Davis has been even dominant of late; he’s putting up 33.2 points, 14.2 boards and 3.4 blocks in his last five games, three of them Pelicans victories. His offensive ability and defensive prowess are reminiscent and a unique blend of the skill sets of Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan, making Davis already one of the most versatile bigs in the league at just 21 years old.
If he continues his current learning curve, Davis could have a few MVPs in his very bright future.
