Raymond Felton, starting point guard for the New York Knicks, was arrested early Tuesday morning for what is being reported as felony gun charges per New York Police Department spokesman.
Felton, 29, reportedly turned himself in after midnight eastern time Tuesday, just hours after the Knicks lost to the Dallas Mavericks at Madison Square Garden. According to a report from the New York Post, Felton was questioned after allegedly pointing the gun at his girlfriend. Felton was then charged with two felonies — second- and third-degree possession of a firearm — and also one misdemeanor for fourth-degree possession. The charges stem from a firearm that Felton possesses without being registered to own a gun.
Felton is scheduled to appear in court for the charges some time Tuesday. The Knicks next scheduled game is Thursday against the Heat in Miami. Felton has struggled this season, averaging a career-low 10.4 points in 41 games for New York, all starts.
