Former Wrestling icon Ric Flair visited the San Francisco 49ers before their wild card win over the Green Bay Packers last week. You can check out video of Flair with the Niners during a team meeting here.
After hyping the Niners up, Flair declared that he was riding with San Francisco all the way. “Ric Flair’s heart is with the 49ers all the way to the end,” Flair proclaimed, in classic wrestler third person.
Apparently that didn’t sit too well with Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith.
“As a guy who actually has a Ric Flair robe I’m real disappointed in seeing that. Real disappointed,” Smith said Monday, via Tom Sorensen of The Charlotte Observer. “I’m not sure if he’ll get the invite here. That Golden Gate Bridge has been burned.”
Flair’s hometown is Charlotte and was at one time a Panthers season ticket holder. When the 49ers meet Carolina this coming weekend on the Panthers’ home turf, don’t expect Smith to welcome Flair back with open arms.
