The Charlotte Bobcats are off to an impressive and have three wins in their first five games, or almost half of their win total from 2011-2012. Unfortunately the team could be without head coach Steve Clifford for their game against the Knicks Friday, as the first-year coach checked himself into a Charlotte-area hospital after not feeling well Thursday night. The Bobcats already picked up a 102-97 win against the Knicks earlier this week.
Clifford was named head coach after a lengthy career as an NBA assistant coach, including a stint as Knicks scout and assistant coach from 2000-2003. Assistant coach Patrick Ewing would take over if Clifford is too ill to coach Friday night.
If Clifford is indeed to sick to coach, it’ll be a bit ironic for Ewing to coach against the franchise that he played 15 years of his 17-year Hall of Fame career for.
