If you’ve watched an NFL game lately, you’ve undoubtedly seen an inordinate amount of pink gear on the field as the league and players support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On Thursday Night Football last week, Bears receiver Brandon Marshall wanted to raise awareness for something else.
In support of Mental Health Awareness Week, Marshall tried to get the league to allow him to wear green cleats, but the league said it was a no-go. Marshall, being the outspoken person he is, did so any way.
As a result, the league passed down a $10,500 fine to Marshall. Marshall couldn’t care less about the fine, though, as he sent out this tweet with a picture of the fine letter from the NFL:
Football is my platform not my purpose. This fine is nothing compared to the conversation started & awareness raised. pic.twitter.com/P9GNygFpH9

All you can really do with Marshall right now is give him a salute for standing up for something important and that he believes in. Well done.
H/T to Shutdown Corner.
