It’s about that time of the NBA off-season when players are saying a lot of things that grab your attention. This week’s edition has John Wall — fresh off of signing a five-year, $80 million extension with the Wizards — proclaiming that he is the best point guard in the league on the Dan Patrick Show:
Well, alright. Nothing wrong with having self-confidence, but we may beg to differ as long as Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Russell Westbrook and about three or four others are still healthy and in their prime. Also, Wall may need to improve on that paltry shooting percentage from three-point range or at least wait until he leads the Wizards to the playoffs before making that claim.
Wall does indeed have the potential to be one of the top point guards in the NBA but until he reaches that potential we’ll refrain from putting him at the head of the class just yet, despite him being paid like one of the best.
