The hits just keep on coming for Ryan Braun, but not the kind he’s accustomed to. Per a report from ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Nike has ended their relationship with the Milwaukee Brewers slugger after MLB levied a 65-game suspension on Braun for PED use:
KeJuan Wilkins, a spokesman for the world’s largest shoe and apparel maker, acknowledged Friday that the company no longer has a relationship with Braun.
Braun had been wearing Nike shoes and batting gloves for his entire seven-year major league career, and the company recently began selling “Big Bat Like Braun” and “Braun Owns Milwaukee” T-shirts in stores.
In addition to lost wages and his Nike endorsements, Braun has also lost business relationships with Musle Milk, Wilson and other local ventures.
Braun has the challenge ahead of repairing his tarnished reputation, but at 29 and in the prime of his career he has time to recoup.
