MLB officially hands down PED suspensions

nelson cruzAfter months of speculation, Major League Baseball has finally handed down 50-game suspensions for performance enhancing drug scandal centered around a Biogenesis clinic in Miami. Among the players suspended include high-profile names such as Nelson Cruz from the Rangers and Detroit Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta. Here is the full list of names, per FOX Sports Ken Rosehthal:

The Cruz and Peralta suspensions hurt their teams the most, as both are currently in contention to win their divisions. The Tigers are first in the AL Central while the Rangers trail Oakland by 2.5 games in the AL West.

Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez was handed a 214 game suspension as well, but Rodriguez plans to appeal his suspension. A-Rod is scheduled to make his first appearance of the season for the Yankees Monday evening.
