Through two rounds at the RBC Canadian Open, Hunter Mahan was definitely in contention. After posting a 67 on the par-72 course at Glen Abbey Golf Club on Thursday, Mahan followed that up with a 64, putting him at -13 coming into Saturday.
With the lead, it’s hard to imagine anything keeping Mahan from the course. As the old adage goes, though, there are more important things than winning.
Devil Ball Golf’s Shane Bacon tweeted out this news about Mahan this afternoon:
Hunter Mahan withdraws from the Canadian Open while leading because wife went into labor. Hubby of the year?

Hubby of the year, indeed. Last year’s winner at the Canadian Open, Scott Piercy, took home $936,000. It’s got to be tough to walk away from that money, but going to be with your wife while she’s having your child certainly qualifies as a good reason to do so.
Congratulations on the new addition to your family, Hunter.
