Coming into the NBA Finals, everyone wondered who would be the star. Would it be the wily veteran, Tim Duncan? Would it be the crafty Tony Parker? Would Manu Ginobili or Dwyane Wade find new life? Or would it be the best player in the game, LeBron James?
As it turns out, one of the most unlikely players has emerged as the star of these Finals: Danny Green. In game 5, Green hit his 23rd three of the Finals, breaking Ray Allen’s records of three-pointers made in a Finals series. Here are all 23 of those threes:
Green went on to hit two more after his record-breaking 23rd three, giving him 25 for the series. It’s also worth noting that it took Allen seven games to hit 22 for the previous record.
If the series ends in game six, Green will also have a chance of setting the record for the best three-point percentage in a six-game NBA Finals series. Danny Ainge currently holds the record at 66.7 percent. Green has hit 65.8 percent through five games.
