Ziggy Ansah offered free IMAX movies for year after wearing 3D glasses to NFL Draft

With the fifth-overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected defensive end Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah out of BYU. He was expected to be a high draft pick, but not many people expected his choice of accessory.

Ansah, when the cameras went in for a close-up, was wearing 3D glasses without the lenses with his suit and draft-day cap, seen here:

Many people made jokes about it and thought it was just a humorous move on Ansah’s part. It turns out that it paid off for the soon to be rookie Lion.

IMAX sent the letter below to Ansah on Friday offering him free movies for a year:

Pretty cool move by IMAX. I guess the joke is on whoever made fun of Ansah’s eye-wear now.

They would quite clearly prefer that he wear IMAX 3D glasses in public as opposed to the RealD glasses he was wearing, what better way to make that happen is there than to make them the only 3D glasses he’ll ever get in theaters? I think for the most part the RealD glasses are more stylish than the clunky IMAX ones so if they want to put some icing on the cake, they should make theirs look better.
