The San Francisco 49ers got some bad news Wednesday when it was revealed that star wide receiver Michael Crabtree suffered a torn Achilles in OTA’s Tuesday, per a report from USA Today’s Mike Garafolo:
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree suffered a torn Achilles tendon during organized team activities Tuesday and will soon undergo what could be season-ending surgery, a person informed of the injury told USA TODAY Sports.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the 49ers haven’t commented on the injury.
The injury could prompt the 49ers to potentially bring back veteran receiver Randy Moss or give second year receiver A.J. Jenkins a larger role this season. Crabtree had a career year in the 49ers run to the Super Bowl last season, catching 85 passes for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns, leading the team in all categories.
