The Miami Dolphins selected defensive end Dion Jordan out of Oregon with the third overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. When they decided to select Jordan, though, they probably should have made sure they had the right number.
Before the phone rang in Jordan’s green room, former Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel’s phone started ringing with the Dolphins on the clock. Here is what Manuel said about the incident on the Dan Patrick Show today, according to show producer Paul Pabst:
E.J. Manuel said his green room hotline phone rang at pick 3. He got excited, then the voice asked if they could talk to Dion Jordan.

Ouch. That had to be a blow to the old ego for Manuel.
Manuel was still picked later in the first round with the 16th overall pick by the Buffalo Bills. Imagine if he had gotten his hopes up with that call at pick number three and then not been selected, though; that would have been cruel.
Good thing the Bills had the right number, though, allowing Manuel to avoid a rough night at Radio City Music Hall.
H/T to Shutdown Corner.
