Joel Peralta is a late bloomer by baseball standards, making his Major League debut with the Los Angeles Angels at 29-years old. Since then he has gone on to pitch for the Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies, Washington Nationals, and currently the Tampa Bay Rays.
In spring training action Saturday the Rays fell to the Minnesota Twins 6-4. In other news, yesterday was Joel Peralta’s birthday. With manager Joe Maddon leading the way Tampa Bay appears to have one of the more fun, lighthearted clubhouses in Major League Baseball. So it shouldn’t be a total surprise this was the scene awaiting Peralta’s arrival.

Age hasn’t slowed Joel Peralta down much, yet. So far this spring he has a 1.50 ERA with six strikeouts in six innings pitched.
