Before becoming a six-time NBA All-Star, member of the league’s All-Defensive Team, and Rookie of the Year Chris Paul was one of the best point guards in college basketball while at Wake Forest University.
As a freshman Paul was the ACC’s Rookie of the Year and helped the Demon Deacons to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. He followed that up with a sophomore season that again saw his Deacons in the NCAA Tournament and Paul was selected as a First Team All-American and member of the ACC All-Defensive First Team. Paul led the conference in steals both of his seasons at Wake Forest and ranks third in school history in three-point shooting percentage and seventh in both steals and assists.
On Saturday Chris Paul was back at Wake Forest for a ceremony at halftime of the game against Maryland to have his No. 3 retired to the rafters at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
If you’re too young to remember CP3 in college or just want to take a trip down memory lane here’s a pretty good compilation of highlights of his time at Wake Forest.
