When it comes to sports most people associate the University of Miami with their football program, rightfully so with all the players they’ve sent to the NFL in recent years. If you haven’t been paying much attention to college basketball this season you may be a bit surprised to find out the Canes men’s hoops team is among the best in the nation.
The 8th ranked Hurricanes are 19-3 and a perfect 10-0 in ACC play. They’ve knocked off Michigan State, Duke, and North Carolina State when they were ranked No’s 13, 1, and 19 respectively. Coming into Saturday Miami had won ten in a row and extended the run to eleven straight via a 87-61 beatdown of the North Carolina Tar Heels. Shane Larkin (18 pts, 9 asst), Kenny Kadji (17 pts, 6 reb), and Durand Scott (17 pts, 6 reb, 5 asst) led the way for Miami who, with the game well in hand, had a little time toward the end of game to showoff a bit.
When filling out your March Madness brackets don’t be surprised to see the Canes with a higher seed than you’re used to. They’re legit.
