Hunter has come under fire lately after a 469-page report was released detailing his misuse of his power as the NBPA’s executive director. As director, Hunter hired family members to his staff and improper spending on trips and gifts, among other offenses in the report.
Putting Hunter on am indefinite leave of absence will most likely lead to Hunter’s dismissal. With Hunter on leave, NBPA counsel Rick Klempner will take over as interim Executive Director.
Hunter has served as the Executive Director of the NBPA since 1996 after a brief career in the NFL and a stint as a prosecution attorney in Northern California.
