New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip and be out up to six months, per N.Y. Post columnist Joel Sherman.
Rodriguez struggled with the injury through the 2012 post season. Rodriguez, now 37, had surgery to repair his right labrum in 2009. The Yankees are on the hook for about $118 million through the 2017 season on the $10-year. $275 mil contract Rodriguez signed back in 2007.
Last season, A-Rod hit .272 with 18 home runs and 57 RBIs in 122 regular season games, but only .120 with no home runs or RBIs in 25 post season at bats. For his career, Rodriguez has batted .300 with 647 home runs (5th all-time) and 1,950 RBI’s (7th all-time).
