Not much has gone right for Gene Chizik and the Auburn Tigers this season. Entering today they were 1-7 overall and winless (0-6) in SEC play. But this is homecoming weekend at Auburn and New Mexico State (1-7, 0-4 in WAC) is in town. The Tigers are in good shape to secure win #2 with a healthy 42-7 lead over the Aggies in the fourth quarter.
One of Auburn’s touchdowns came via a 62-yard fumble return by senior linebacker Daren Bates, who delivered a punishing stiff arm on his way to the end zone.
Earl Campbell would be proud of that one.
