The Miami Marlins have moved quickly to replace jettisoned Ozzie Guillen and have hired former MLB catcher Mike Redmond to be their new manager. The hiring was first reported by CBS Sports Jon Heyman:

Heyman also reports that Redmond’s deal will be for three years. Redmond played for the Marlins 1998-2004 before retiring as a member of the Cleveland Indians in 2010. Redmond spent the past season managing the Dunedin Blue Jays, the Advanced Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Redmond (41) is replacing Guillen after a season full of turmoil that led to Guillen’s firing after his first year as the Marlins manager. Redmond hit .287 in 13 seasons in the majors.
