One random January night back in 2006, Kobe Bryant did something spectacular, something that the NBA may never see again. Kobe single-handedly scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second highest total in NBA history behind Wilt’s 100-point explosion in 1962.
Retired all-star Jalen Rose was one of Kobe’s victims in his 81-point masterpiece and recently recapped the night with Grantland. Here’s the video:
Good stuff. This also gives us further insight on just how bad of a coach Sam Mitchell was (the same coach Sam Mitchell that once got into a locker room fight with Vince Carter).
But why is Jalen holding a baseball bat while talking about basketball? The people need answers…
