At one point he was Lance Armstrong, the greatest road racing cyclist of his era. Or perhaps ever. Now, he’s just Lance Armstrong. The USADA (U.S. Anti-Doping Agency) has banned Armstrong for life from competition due to his part in a doping program and stripped him of his Tour de France titles. He could also lose his bronze medal from the 2000 Olympic games.

The fallout with sponsors is underway. Lance has been dropped by Nike. Radio Shack, Anheuser-Busch, and others have followed suit. Oakley could be next.

Armstrong’s presence is being eliminated elsewhere as well.

We didn’t necessarily need another example of how real the thirst for gaining a competitive advantage and winning championships is, but Lance Armstrong provided us with one anyway. And now he’s suffering the consequences.
