Nowitzki missed the Mavs last three preseason games due to swelling in the knee. Nowitzki missing the full six weeks would sideline him until December at the earliest, causing him to miss as much as 16 games.
Nowitzki averaged 21.8 ppg and 6.8 rrpg his 14th NBA season last year, all with the Mavericks. The Mavs open their season October 30 against the Lakers in Los Angeles.
