NBA training camps have gotten underway this past weekend, with the vast majority of the league holding their annual media day at the start of camp. During a media session for the Boston Celtics Sunday, recently signed big man Darko Milicic dropped some interesting comments regarding his commitment to helping the Celtics win next season:
“I’m done trying to prove I’m the No. 2 pick and that [expletive] stuff,” Milicic told CSNNE.com. “This year, it’s all about Celtics, to show that I am a team player. It’s not about me. It’s about us as a team.
Milicic added: “I’ll do whatever it takes, whatever I need to do to help this team. So now, if I have to go kill someone on the court, I’ll kill someone on the court.”
Whoa there, Darko. We get your point, but pre-meditated murder may be a bit extreme. Milicic, 27, has played for 5 teams so far in his NBA career, averaging 6.0 ppg and 4.2 rpg in nine seasons. Darko signed a one-year deal with the Celtics for the veteran’s minimum and is looking to find a role on a Celtics roster already full of front court talent.
With talk like this, Milicic should have a supporter in resident Celtics psycho Kevin Garnett.
