Video: Orioles relief pitcher Luis Ayala catches home run in cap

Four games against AL East cellar dwellers the Toronto Blue Jays could be just what the Baltimore Orioles need as they enter the home stretch of their march towards the team’s first postseason appearance since 1997. During the first game of a doubleheader today Orioles utility man Ryan Flaherty hit just his fifth home run of the season, that just so happened to find its way into the hat of teammate Luis Ayala out in the bullpen.

You can take your pick of what’s more improbable right now between the Orioles being one game behind the New York Yankees for the division lead, Baltimore currently in possession of the top wildcard spot in the American League, or Ryan Flaherty hitting a home run that winds up in a teammate’s glove. It’s been that kind of year for the birds.
