Crushed…

With just over a month to go in the regular season Edwin Encarnacion is putting the finishing touches on a career year, one that earned him a three-year $27 million contract extension in July. Through 127 games entering today the first baseman/designated hitter was third in the AL in home runs (35), sixth in RBI (90), fourth in slugging (.565), and third in OPS (.950).

Saturday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Rays Encarnacion added to his HR total in impressive fashion with this long ball that J.P. Howell, understandably, didn’t want to look at.

This gives Encarnacion two home runs in the top ten for the season. His 467-ft shot on July 17 is currently tenth.

In case you missed Giancarlo Stanton’s 494-ft blast that occupies the top spot here it is.
