Earlier this week we saw St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina take a vicious hit from Josh Harrison of the Pittsburgh Pirates at home plate and get up with the ball, despite being shaken up in the process. Fast forward to last night and we had a similar situation when Atlanta’s Chipper Jones came around third base and arrived at home the same time the throw from John Mayberry did. This was the result.
It’s that time of year when each game (and run) is critical for teams like the Braves, who currently hold the top spot in the NL wild card race and are 6.5 games back of the Washington Nationals in the NL East. Looks like Chipper wants to add to his total of 92 career playoff games
Hats off (literally) to Erik Kratz for holding on to the ball.
