There will be plenty of attention on MetLife Stadium tomorrow as #2 USC travels east to face Syracuse. With all of eyes sure to be watching the school is taking the opportunity to put on display a special uniform that’s part of Nike’s 2012 Rivalry Series. Syracuse posted a photo of the jersey on its football team’s Facebook page.
The patch displays the uniform #44 worn by school legend Ernie Davis (as well as Jim Brown and Floyd Little). Above that are the years 1962-2012 to designate this being the 50th anniversary of Davis’ graduation and the word Express, a reference to his nickname the Elmira (town in NY where he starred in high school) Express. On the bottom is the university’s zip code, 13244. Special socks, gloves, and undershirt will also be worn by Orange players.
This well done feature on Davis is worth a watch if you’re unfamiliar with his impact on both Syracuse University and college football.
