Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was one of the bigger stories of the NFL preseason. The third round selection in this year’s draft wasn’t expected to be in the position he’s currently in as the team’s starter. Seattle signed Matt Flynn to a three-year deal in the spring and Tarvaris Jackson (now with the Buffalo Bills), who was last year’s starter, was still a member of the team. Wilson outplayed both during the preseason to earn the nod from head coach Pete Carroll.
The former Wisconsin Badger and twice drafted baseball player’s journey has been one greatly impact by his father. In this Levi’s ad Wilson talks about what he has carried along with him from his father, who passed in 2010.
The commercial can be seen on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 throughout the month of September and will be featured during next Monday’s Green Bay Packers/Seattle Seahawks game.
Through the first two games of his NFL career Wilson has completed 61% of his passes for 304 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He was 15/20 with with 151 yards and a TD pass in last Sunday’s 27-7 upset of the Dallas Cowboys.
