During week one of the 2012 NFL season, Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III ruffled some feathers in the league offices when he covered up the Nike logo on his warm ups, writing the word “HEART” in marker. Here’s a picture:
ESPN quoted a spokesperson from the league office saying that RGIII’s doctoring of the Nike logo “won’t happen again”.
Well this past Sunday Griffin III – who is sponsored by Adidas – again covered up the Nike logo, this time by wearing a plain grey t-shirt over his warm ups before the Redskins game against the Rams:
Wonder what the league will say about it this week, if anything at all. Either way, Griffin’s loyalty to his signature brand is admirable. It’s always good business to put the people who sign your endorsement checks ahead of competitors.
