Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers evidently wasn’t the only one who had a little something extra riding on a week 1 NFL game. Last year’s MVP and R&B group Boyz II Men had an arrangement that if the Packers lost to the 49ers Rodgers would have to wear a San Francisco jersey this week. It sounds like that may not be happening though, atleast not right now.
Texas Rangers bullpen ace Joe Nathan was part of a friendly wager as well. Nathan is a New York Giants fan and fellow relief pitcher Mike Adams supports the Dallas Cowboys. So naturally with both teams going head-to-head last Wednesday the two teammates decided to place a bet on the outcome.
The Cowboys’ 24-17 victory meant Nathan had to dress in a full Cowboys uniform complete with pads, helmet and, of course, Romo’s name and his No. 9 on the back. Adams and Nathan agreed that the loser would have to wear it for all of batting practice. And Nathan added the stipulation that the loser had to sign autographs for five minutes after so that the television cameras could get a nice view.
“It feels just like I thought it would – absolutely terrible,” Nathan said.
“I’m extremely pleased,” Adams said. “This is probably the best bet I’ve ever won in my entire life. This is up there.”
Having the loser wear a jersey is one thing but for Adams to go all out and get a complete uniform (pads included) is next level. And props to Nathan for going through with it and having a little fun at the same time. He’ll get a chance for revenge when the Giants and Cowboys hook up for round two on October 28. Wonder how Adams will top this if Dallas wins again?
It’s good to see the Rangers staying loose with the surging Oakland A’s breathing down their neck in the AL West.
