The Cincinnati Reds have been on fire since the All-Star break. Since July 13 the team has gone 18-3 entering today’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, including a 10-game winning streak. The streak is important because earlier this season Reds broadcaster, and Ford C. Frick Award winner, Marty Brennaman said he would shave his head if the team reeled off ten in a row.
Next up was for Brennaman to make good on his promise. And he did so last night.
Turning the moment into a fundraising opportunity to support a worthy cause was a class act. Those who benefit from the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund will surely be appreciative of Mr. Brennaman. And the Cincinnati Reds for winning ten games in a row.
“I never dreamed it would ever get this big, I truly did not,” Brennaman said. “I’m thrilled to death that it’s raised a lot of money for the Community Fund. If it’s got to go, then thank God somebody is going to benefit from it.”
