When Team Baltimore’s Best faced off against Team Under Armour in Baltimore this week familiar names to hoops fans like Brandon Jennings, Kemba Walker, Derrick Williams, and DeAndre Jordan were on the floor. But it was the 40th overall selection in this year’s draft by the Portland Trail Blazers who stole the show as the Baltimore team won 124-109.

Barton, a Baltimore native, led the Memphis Tigers (and Conference USA) in scoring last season at 18 ppg on 51% shooting and was named the conference’s Player of the Year. He also led the Tigers in rebounding with 8 rpg.

During the NBA’s Las Vegas Summer League Barton averaged 15 points, including a high of 27, and 4.4 rebounds over five games. Fellow rookie teammate Damian Lillard grabbed the attention of many on the way to being named the summer league’s co-MVP, and will get the minutes to make more of an impact next season than Barton, but it appears Blazers fans are pleased with what they saw from the second round pick.

And that was before this outburst. Granted it was an exhibition game, but still.
