Ichiro, now 38, is one of the most popular players in the Majors and has been one of the best hitters in all of baseball since joining the Mariners in 2001 after spending time dominating in Japan. Although Ichiro’s skills have declined, he is still a solid contact hitter who can run the bases well and play solid defense in right field.
Ichiro, a 10-time all-star, is a career .322 hitter in the Majors and has racked up over 2,500 hits in just 12 seasons. Ichiro also won both the AL Rookie of the Year and MVP awards in 2001. Ichiro has led the AL in batting twice (2001 and 2004), hits seven times (2001, 2004, 2006-2010) and stolen bases (56) in 2001.
