The Philadelphia 76ers made some additions and subtractions to their roster Friday for next season, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal with swingman Nick Young and deciding to use the amnesty clause on veteran forward Elton Brand:

Young split the 2011-2012 season playing with Washington and the Clippers, averaging 14.2 ppg for the year and should provide a good source of perimeter scoring, something the Sixers lacked on a consistence basis last season.

The former no. 1 overall pick Elton Brand’s career has been slowed by a knee injury in 2007 but the 6’8″ PF is still a solid post presence that can help a number of teams. Brand was entering the final year of a 5-year, $79 million contract that was signed in 2008 with the Sixers. Brand averaged 11.2 ppg and 7.2 rpg in 60 starts for Philadelphia. For his career, Brand has averaged 18.3 ppg and 9.3 rpg in 13 seasons with the Bulls, Clippers and 76ers.
