The Indiana Pacers have agreed to a sign point guard DJ Augustin to a one year, $3.5 million contract according to a report from Mike Wells of the Indiana Star. Augustin was a restricted free agent this summer after playing for the Charlotte Bobcats for his entire career. Augustin averaged 11.1 ppg and 6.1 apg during the 2011-2012 season.
Indiana moved quickly to fill their void at point guard after trading Darren Collison to the Mavericks for C Ian Mahinmi. Augustin has played with mixed results for the Bobcats and no longer figured in the Bobats plans after they agreed to terms with Ramon Sessions on a long-term contract Thursday.
For his career, Augustin has averaged 10.9 ppg and 4.4 apg while appearing in 282 games over four seasons with the Bobcats, including 142 starts. Augustin’s best season was in 2010-2011 when he averaged 14.1 ppg and 6.1 apg while starting all 82 games. Augustin was selected 9th overall out of Texas by the Bobcats in the 2008 NBA Draft.
