Headed for the Hall…

The National League made it look easy in last night’s All-Star Game, jumping out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning and cruising to an 8-0 victory. Three of the runs to come across in the opening frame came on this play.

Sandoval made All-Star Game history in that plate appearance and now the bat from it will be on display at the Today’s Game exhibit at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The San Francisco Giants starred on baseball’s big stage as outfielder Melky Cabrera hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and capped off his first All-Star Game appearance by being named MVP while pitcher Matt Cain received the starting nod from manager Tony LaRussa and picked up the win.

Also making the trip from yesterday’s game to Cooperstown will be Chipper Jones’ bat and cap from his final Midsummer Classic.
