Tuesday the NBA fined NY Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire $50,000 for a gay slur Stoudemire used in response to a fan via Twitter over the weekend.
Stoudemire has had a rough last few months with the Knicks. Stoudemire made headlines when injured his hand and missed the majority of their first round series with the Heat after punching a fire extinguisher in frustration.
Stoudemire later apologized to fan for his comments, but apparently the damage had already been done. Although the slur was sent from Stoudemire’s personal account, he essentially is an employee of the NBA and has to use better judgement in his interactions with fans.
