Dwyane Wade’s flagrant 1 last night against Darren Collison caught some attention. Thankfully, it seems to be catching even more attention this morning.

There is a growing contingent of basketball fans, bloggers & sports writers who are becoming increasingly tired of Dwyane Wade’s antics.

Quotes came out this morning where Wade whined about the Pacers celebrating their game 2 win. This outstanding piece by CBS Sports points out the blatant hypocrisy.

Ignoring his constant flopping (on both ends of the floor) and incessant whining, a lot of people consider him a dirty player.

The blatant cheap shot committed against Collison last night after Wade pouted over not getting his usual preferential treatment from the officials did nothing to help his cause.

There seems to be a growing faction of the sports world who believe the flagrant was bad enough to warrant a 2 game suspension. I honestly thought when it happened that it should warrant at least a 1 game suspension. Except that we’re dealing with Wade & relatively unknown Collison.

For that reason, I don’t see it happening.

But as this post points out, it would be highly critical of the NBA NOT to suspend Wade for 2 games.

As you’ll see in the gif, Wade’s cheap shot is nearly identical, if not worse, than the cheap shot Jason Smith issued on Blake Griffin.

If the NBA doesn’t suspend Wade, which they won’t, they’re sending a clear message that they’re worried about player safety. If you’re one of the handful of stars the league uses to market themselves, that is.

There’s no chance they suspend Wade & cripple their money making Miami Heat who has already lost Bosh for at least the series. But when they don’t suspend him, they will have no defense against their clear hypocrisy.

**Update**

As expected, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the NBA will not further punish Wade for the flagrant on Collison.
