Chris Carter created a lot of buzz yesterday admitting that he put bounties out against defensive players. Specifically, 4 time Super Bowl champion Bill Romonowski.

Today on the Colin Cowherd show, Bill Romonowski had a chance to respond.

Romo denied the allegations of verbally threatening Chris Carter saying that he never threatened or said anything to anyone. He even went so far as to say that “maybe Chris Carter is a mind reader” because he would have had to know what he was thinking because he didn’t speak once the game started; stating “I was in the zone”.

Romo also denied ever targeting any specific player.

I don’t know about you, but knowing Romo’s temperament & reputation, I highly doubt he never talked trash during games.

With that said, I’m not so sure CC is being totally truthful as well. While its not yet online, CC joined Cowherd following the Romo interview & while he didn’t totally backtrack, his tone & language changed a bit.

Last night & several times this morning, CC claimed that Romo warned him not to go over the middle or he’d “end his career”.

Just now, CC changed the story to say that in 2001 against the Broncos, as they were going into the 1st huddle, Romo said “CC, I’m taking you out today.”

It’s not a huge difference, both are trash talk that happens in every NFL game, especially back then… But it is an interesting change by CC. If you can find the interview, he also seemed to change his tone a bit & wasn’t so brash & comfortable after Romo had called in & disputed his story.

With that said, CC had no problem calling Romo one of the “dirtiest players in the past 20 years. So maybe he was just a little nervous after being challenged or maybe there were multiple threats by Romo & CC is adding a new one to the story…
