Donavan McNabb has been essentially a disaster since being traded from the Eagles to the Division rival Redskins. After being run out by Shanahan in D.C., he had a disastrous season with the Vikings.
McNabb has been trying to land broadcasting gigs since last season, and now it appears that he’s trying to get back into the NFL. Fine. I don’t begrudge anyone the opportunity to make a living or to continue playing.
But he has an interesting way of trying to entice NFL teams to give him a look…
McNabb decided to invite video crews to film his workouts. Ok, he’s not the first or last. T.O. did the same last season in a failed attempt to court teams. McNabb, however, didn’t workout in the traditional format.
You know, on a football field, with wide receivers, in cleats and maybe even a helmet… No, McNabb decided to have his workout shirtless, in swimming trunks, in the ocean!
Not only did this directly contradict his recent comments to ESPN where he said the following:
“I’m in great shape,” McNabb told ESPN in a “SportsCenter” interview that aired Monday. “I’ve dropped 15, 20 pounds.”
But what exactly does throwing passes in the ocean prove to NFL teams?
He may have lost 15-20 pounds, but after seeing the video, I would hardly classify him as being “in great shape”.
McNabb may still be able to play. Who knows, a team may sign him… But the genius who came up with the idea to invite a video crew to film the chubby QB in the ocean should be fired. Immediately!
