Former Celtic legend and current President of the Indiana Pacers, Larry Bird, has been named NBA Executive of the Year.
Bird is the only person in NBA history to have won league MVP (’84, ’85, ’86), Coach of the Year (’97-98), and Executive if the Year.
Bird has undoubtedly done a great job with the Pacers this season. They finished with a regular season record of 42-24 earning a 3 seed in the East. Bird hired a young, talented coach in Frank Vogel and has built a very solid, although not particularly flashy, roster.
The Pacers secured their first win in the 2nd round series against the Heat last night in Miami tying up the series at 1-1 and stealing home court advantage. At least for the time being.
Regardless of how this series plays out, Bird, Vogel, and the players on this roster pretty much maxed out their capabilities this season & got as much out of what they had as is possible.
