Since the Browns drafted Trent Richardson & Brandon Weeden, there has been a lot of optimism & excitement in Cleveland. Misplaced in my opinion, but optimism nonetheless.

I hate to go all “Adam Schefter” on you… And at the risk of sounding like a self important douche… I’m going to do this anyway. Per a credible source, Browns standout DT & last year’s first round pick Phil Taylor has suffered what appears to be a torn pectoral muscle.

Details on the injury are sketchy at this time, but it reportedly happened in the weight room & Taylor is expected to miss at least 4-6 months. Taylor started all 16 games as a rookie for the Browns and had a solid campaign with 37 tackles and 4 sacks.

If this is accurate, and I’ll wait to see if and when this is picked up by traditional media before assessing the validity… But if this is true, this is undoubtedly a big blow for the Browns as Taylor was an impact player immediately last season for an underrated defense.
