By now you’ve seen the brutal elbow Metta World Peace delivered to the back of James Harden’s head. While MWP and his brother insist it was accidental, they’re about the only people on the planet who believe that.
Even gratuitous player slurper & blowhard, Stephen A. Smith doesn’t believe it was accidental.
At halftime, after the elbow, the typical ESPN crew broke down the first half, and obviously, the elbow. Jon Barry took particular exception. In the midst of his rant, he called the artist formerly known as Ron Artest “Metta Weird Peace”. I have no idea if this was intentional, a Freudian slip, or a harmless mistake but MWP’s brother didn’t take too kindly to Mr. Barry.
I’m guessing the “batshit crazy” gene runs in the family, huh?
At this point, it’s not a question of IF MWP will be suspended, but for how long? Given the NBA’s piggy backing on the NFL’s concussion policies & protocols and given the ferocity and level of danger in the hit, I believe it should be substantial. If the NBA is serious about safety and concussions they should send a Goodell-like message. To me, with this and his history, at least the first round of the playoffs, but it’ll probably be in the 3-5 game range.
