The Pittsburgh Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC. Since being founded in 1933 the Steelers have won 6 Super Bowls, 8 conference championships, 20 division titles, and made 27 playoff appearances. They have called 6 stadiums home and have 25 representatives in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. What could be a better way to celebrate a storied history than to wear special throwback uniforms from when the team was named the Pittsburgh Pirates? Here are a few shots courtesy of the Steelers’ official Twitter account.
“We wanted to use a jersey that we wore early in our history as we celebrate our 80th season. We have never used those jerseys since the 1934 season and I think our fans will be excited to see our players wear them in action this year,” team president Art Rooney II said in a written statement.
What do you say Steelers fans? Are you excited to see these on game day?
