During this year’s All-Star game Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant had on specially designed shoes for the occasion. For tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers Durant will once again wore unique sneakers, ones part of a campaign by Nike with a worthy cause.
Here’s a little about N7 from the website.
Nike N7 is committed to inspiring and enabling participation in sport for Native American and Aboriginal populations in North America. We believe that sport has the power to unleash human potential. A physically active lifestyle promotes more than exercise. Involvement in sports and physical activity leads to greater self-confidence, enabling youth to be a force for positive change in their communities.
Among those also supporting N7 is Tahnee Robinson, a third round draft choice of the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury and member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe in Montana. Boston Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, the first Native American of Navajo descent to play Major League Baseball, is also an ambassador. The same can be said for St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, the first Native American player to win college football’s Heisman Trophy.
