Colts owner, Jim Irsay is well known in the Twitterverse for his frequent & often bizarre tweets. Irsay ate up the opportunity to control the spotlight during the Peyton Manning saga & it seems he isn’t quite ready to let go of the attention.

Leading up to the NFL Draft, it seems everyone suddenly loves Texas A&M QB, Ryan Tannehill and Jim Irsay is no different.

Irsay tweeted the following on Wednesday about Tannehill:

So either Irsay genuinely loves Tannehill & is actually considering drafting him, he has a vested interest in improving Tannehill’s draft position, or he has a vested interest in trying to benefit Vikings owner, Zygi Wilf.

Oh… Or he just wants people to pay attention to him some more!

It’s nearly a forgone conclusion that the Colts will draft Andrew Luck so what possible reason would Irsay have for making these comments? He can’t honestly think this is believable enough to be considered as normal Draft time “smokescreen”.

No one is going to move up to get Tannehill if they weren’t previously inclined to do so just because Irsay tweeted about how great he is.

Some have speculated that Irsay felt slighted by Robert Griffin III declining a workout with the Colts and given Irsay’s ego, that’s definitely possible.

It’s becoming more & more clear, however, that Irsay is trying to establish himself as a Jerry Jones or Marc Cuban type though. He was quick to oust the Polians (Bill was essentially the architect for the Colts we’ve come to know in the Manning era) and some saw that as his opportunity to solidify himself as the face of the franchise.

This is just another example of his repeated efforts to assert himself as one of the premier owners in sports. I don’t know about you, but in my mind owners are judged on wins & championships. Not asinine tweets & comments & “Hey, Look at me!” moments.
